Israel Israeli : ウィキペディア英語版 | Israel Israeli
Israel Israeli (Hebrew: ישראל ישראלי, ''Yisrael Yisraeli'') is a placeholder name used in Israel in much the same manner as John Doe in the United States or Joe Bloggs in the United Kingdom. The term "Ploni Almoni" (Hebrew: פְּלֹנִי אַלְמֹנִי) finds common use in Israel as a stand-in name, similar to John Doe in the United States. The term is taken from the Hebrew text of the Book of Ruth. Specifically this phrase is found in Ruth 4:1 where it is used euphemistically to refer to a relative of Boaz.〔http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt2904.htm〕 (The actual name of Boaz's relative is not used because the individual in question had failed to carry out a religious duty.)〔http://www.moshereiss.org/messenger/14_ruth/14_ruth.html〕〔http://azamra.org/Bible/Ruth%203-4.htm〕〔http://www.thejc.com/judaism/jewish-words/32173/ploni-almoni〕 == See also ==
